Rebecca A. Petersen, MS, ATC
Rebecca recently transitioned into a full time role as the Patient Care Coordinator for the Concussion Center. From the beginning, Rebecca has been a part of the development and launch of the Concussion Center, completing ImPACT ® Trained Athletic Trainer (ITAT) training in March of 2014. She provides community and provider education on concussion, sports safety, and other topics related to sports medicine. She participates in patient panel discussions with the Concussion Center clinical team, facilitates patient appointments, and provides education for patients and parents.
Prior to joining Stamford Hospital, Rebecca was the Clinical Coordinator, Assistant Professor in the BS/MS degree program in Athletic Training at LIU-Brooklyn. Previous roles include assistant athletic trainer at Vassar College, in the WNBA with the NY Liberty, a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer at LIU-Brooklyn and an exercise specialist at an outpatient rehabilitation clinic. A Certified Athletic Trainer since 1998, Rebecca has volunteered her time with the NYS ATA and is currently with the CATA as Co-Chair of the Committee on Practice Advancement and member of the Governmental Affairs Committee. She received her B.S. degree in Exercise Science with a Minor in Human Services Counseling from Old Dominion University, Norfolk, VA and her M.S. in Athletic Training and Sports Sciences from LIU-Brooklyn, NY.
