Preparing for Your Visit or Stay
If you're a patient:
Please bring current photo ID and insurance card. Your first stop once you walk in the main entrance is our welcome desk where you will need to present your photo ID in order to obtain a visitor pass. This is for your safety while you are with us. Please also plan accordingly with your arrival for your appointment or procedure as you will be making this stop before you reach your final destination.
If you're visiting:
When you arrive at the Stamford Hospital/Bennett Medical Center Campus, you'll be given a badge at the front desk, which will include your name and photograph, as well as the time and date you arrived. To ensure a timely process, please be prepared with a valid photo ID. Again, this is for the safety and security of everyone traveling through the hospital.
Please note: To protect the wellbeing of our patients, staff and visitors, Stamford Health prohibits the use of all tobacco and vaping products in and around all Stamford Health buildings, properties, parking areas and on sidewalks. Thank you for complying.
For a scheduled procedure or surgery:
Check in at the welcome desk in the main lobby of the hospital. Please have a valid photo ID and a recent insurance card ready; this is for your safety. Keep these documents out and then follow signs to Admitting where a staff member will assist you. You'll then take the elevator behind Admitting to the floor 1. You'll be greeted by the receptionist who will prepare your paperwork for your nurse right before your surgery or procedure.
For a procedure in the cardiac catheterization lab
Take the elevator to floor 2 after checking in at Admitting. The same steps will apply.
For an appointment or treatment at Bennett Cancer Center
Check in at the main entrance of the Bennett Cancer Center where the staff will further assist you.
For labor and delivery
First, we recommend parking at the valet entrance. Come in through the main entrance of the hospital and show your photo ID and insurance card at the welcome desk to obtain a pass, unless you are in active labor. If you are in active labor, please alert the staff. If you are not in active labor, follow signs for Whittingham Pavilion/Labor & Delivery after checking in and obtaining your pass.
For the emergency department and pediatric emergency department
If coming by car, follow signs to the emergency department and use our valet parking service. All patients who come into the emergency department are seen by an experienced greeter nurse who determines to which treatment zone they will go.
