Continuing Medical Education at Stamford Hospital
Supporting the Medical Staff in Professional Development and Growth
Continuing medical education (CME) consists of educational activities which serve to maintain, develop, or increase the knowledge, skills, and professional performance of physicians. Participation in CME enables physicians to improve the care they provide to their patients, as well as to meet requirements for maintenance of licensure, maintenance of specialty board certification, and as evidence of clinical competence.
Stamford Hospital is committed to helping its physicians achieve their continuing education goals by supporting and providing educational activities that are free of charge or at low cost. Examples of hospital supported CME include:
- Department/specialty specific Grand Rounds
- Borrowing rights to DVDs on the State of CT mandated continuing education topics that are required for re-licensure
- Special programs on the latest healthcare topics
- Automatic enrollment in MedNewsPlus, hospital-sponsored medical news services that links consumer medical news with professional medical analysis for clinicians
Many of the hospital CME offerings are approved for Category 1 credit. Whether accessed in person or online, Stamford Hospital physicians can be assured that resources are available to them that will enable them to maintain competence, provide excellent care and improve patient outcomes.
