Stamford Hospital Re-Designated with Magnet® Recognition Status by American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)
STAMFORD, CT / May 27, 2026 – Today, Stamford Health announced it has once again achieved Magnet Recognition® status from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), one of the highest honors for nursing excellence and quality patient care. This marks the organization’s third designation since 2016, placing it among the 10.5% of registered hospitals in the United States, and one of only seven in Connecticut, to earn this distinction. Additionally, Stamford Hospital is among the 3% of U.S. hospitals to have achieved Magnet designation three times.
Magnet® Recognition reflects nursing excellence and the collective strength of an entire organization, earned through a rigorous evaluation of outcomes, quality, safety, patient satisfaction, employee engagement, and interprofessional collaboration. Site appraisers praised Stamford Health for outperforming national benchmarks in 7 of the ANCC Magnet exemplars, including key patient safety and quality indicators.
“Achieving Magnet® re-designation is a significant honor and a reflection of the excellence demonstrated by our nurses, physicians, and clinicians,” remarked Ellen Komar, Senior Vice President of Patient Care Services & Chief Nursing Officer at Stamford Health. “I am deeply grateful for the compassionate care and expertise our interdisciplinary care teams bring to Stamford Health and our patients.”
“As an independent hospital, Magnet® designation is especially meaningful for Stamford Health as it shows how our commitment to nursing excellence, safety, and teamwork meets the highest quality care,” added Kathleen Silard, President and CEO of Stamford Health. “Thank you to our many dedicated nursing and clinical professionals for their shared dedication to helping us advance our vision of being the most trusted healthcare partner for the communities we serve.”
