About Me

Dr. Evan Sheha is a board certified orthopedic spine surgeon at Hospital for Special Surgery and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. His expertise lies in the application of minimally invasive techniques to treat the full spectrum of degenerative spinal conditions involving the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine. He believes in the importance of patient education and shared decision making, and works closely with his patients to develop a treatment plan focused on long-term spine health.

Dr. Sheha graduated Summa Cum Laude from Fordham University in the Bronx where he was also inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. He went on to obtain his medical degree from the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He subsequently completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at HSS followed by a fellowship in Spine Surgery at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. He is currently a member of the North American Spine Society, International Society for the Advancement of Spine Surgery, and the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and textbook chapters and his work has been presented at national and international spine society meetings.

His clinical and research interests focus on the application of new and enabling technologies in spine surgery – including navigated and robotic-assisted spine surgery, augmented reality, and 3D technology – as well as best practices to improve the safety and effectiveness of spine surgery in both the inpatient and outpatient setting. He is interested in continuing to advance the practice of minimally invasive spine surgery to help speed recovery while minimizing postoperative pain, and to expand the scope of its applications in both spinal deformity and degenerative pathologies.
