A message from Kathleen Silard, President & cEO

Published on  March 19, 2020

As the President & CEO of Stamford Health, I live in this community. My husband and I raised our boys here. Our life is here. Like you, the unfolding COVID-19 crisis is making me think about my family, my friends, my neighbors and everyone served by Stamford Health. Please allow me to reassure you that we are well-prepared to keep our community safe, healthy and well-informed.

As a health system, we have robust infection prevention processes and protocols in place and have intensified our ongoing education, training and drills.  Additionally, we are fortunate to have a hospital that was built with scenarios such as COVID-19 in mind. We can accommodate a surge in demand, should it be necessary, and our isolation rooms and highly trained staff can effectively and safety handle infectious diseases.

You may have heard that like most hospitals across the state we have identified and treated individuals with COVID-19. Please know that even while providing testing and care for patients with this disease, Stamford Health continues to provide a full range of hospital services and community support.

One of the best things we can all do, in addition to following public health guidance around quarantining and social distancing, is to stay informed about the disease, especially because things are changing so rapidly. Below, please find frequently updated resources, which I hope you’ll find helpful:

  • The Stamford Health COVID-19 Hotline, at 203.276.4111, which provides guidance, including when to act, where to get care, etc.
  • StamfordHealth.org, for patient and visitor information, prevention tips, symptoms, etc.
  • The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, has information about the virus, safety and travel information, etc.
  • Lastly, I have been touched by the outpouring of support we are receiving from the community – offers large and small that remind me that we are all in this together. On behalf of everyone at Stamford Health, thank you. We are here for you, too.

    Sincerely,

Kathleen Silard, MS, BSN, RN, FACHE

    President & Chief Executive Officer
