What types of pain does Stamford Health's Pain Management Center treat?

  • Acute Pain: May arise as a result of trauma, injury, surgery or illness. Acute pain is defined as pain lasting less than six months and generally disappears as the root cause of the pain is treated.
  • Chronic Pain: May result from serious injury, trauma or longstanding illness. Chronic pain often requires diagnosis and longitudinal treatment by a dedicated multidisciplinary team.
  • Cancer-Associated Pain: Refers to pain that is directly related to a malignancy or tumor. Given significant advances in cancer therapeutics, we now care for many cancer survivors left with debilitating pain and discomfort long after beating their disease.

What makes the Stamford Health Pain Management Center unique?

Our Pain Management Center offers a multidisciplinary approach to the diagnosis and treatment of pain. We have assembled a team of highly experienced physicians, advanced practice nurses, physician assistants, psychologists, rehabilitation specialists and social workers. The Stamford Health Pain Management Center also has a clinical research program to ensure that the most advanced treatment options are available to our patients.
