Dr. Manimbo has a long and distinguished career in our city. He came to Stamford in 1968, after his residency in Anesthesiology at St. Raphael Hospital and fellowship in cardiopulmonary medicine at Yale.
He served as Chief of Anesthesiology at St. Joseph Hospital in Stamford 1980-1985, and Chair of the Department of Anesthesiology at Stamford Hospital 1994-2003. He started the epidural anesthesia program at Stamford Hospital in 1970, and under his leadership and tenure, established many patient-centered processes that make the Department of Anesthesia at Stamford Hospital the premier anesthesia service in Fairfield County.
Dr. Manimbo has nurtured the growth of the now 30 physician groups known as Stamford Anesthesia Services, stepping down as its President in 2003. He helped nurture and develop the culture of innovation, patient-centered care, service and collegiality that is now SAS.
During his 48 years as Stamford Hospital Medical Staff and serving our community and our institution, he has demonstrated excellence in patient care, compassion, collegiality, work ethic and dedication – and he has quietly become yet another Stamford Hospital physician upon whose shoulders our institution is built.
Dr. Manimbo is hereby publicly acknowledged by his physician peers as a role model physician.
Thank you for being the excellent physician and colleague that you are.
