Stamford Health Brings Back: Bring Your Child to Work Day
Stamford, CT / April 24, 2025 – Today, Stamford Health proudly hosted Bring Your Child to Work Day for the first time since 2010, welcoming 30 children of employees for a day filled with educational and engaging activities. This exciting event provided children with a glimpse into the health care profession and a deeper understanding of their parents' work environment.
To begin their journey, the children enjoyed a guided tour of the hospital’s main campus. Throughout the day they met various health care professionals, including physicians, nurses, hospital leadership and even Stamford Health’s resident facility therapy dog, Harrison. Each interaction allowed them to understand how these diverse roles contribute to the organization’s vision of being the most trusted health care partner for the communities they serve.
"Bring Your Child to Work Day is an opportunity for our employees to share their professional lives with their children,” stated Kathleen Silard, President and CEO. “We believe that allowing children to see the dynamic and compassionate work their parents do at Stamford Health can spark a lifelong interest in making a difference in people's lives."
Some of the day's activities included a visit to Stamford Health's state-of-the-art Simulation Lab, Wound Center, and Laboratory, and interactive demonstrations about infection prevention, fitness and nutrition, and pulmonary care. Each child had the chance to practice basic medical procedures such as CPR, donning and doffing personal protective equipment (PPE), and learn about the importance of teamwork and collaboration in a patient care setting.
The students were supplied with a backpack and notebook to capture their learnings and wore an ID badge to immerse themselves in their roles as “Future Health Care Workers.” At lunch time, parents joined their children to enjoy a meal together and hear what they had learned.
“My favorite part of the day was seeing how the team came together to put this great event together for us,” said one student, Alejandra. “Now I know if I eventually want to work at Stamford Health, I’d be working with a big team that supports each other.”
“I had a lot of fun during the day,” added another student, Mackenzie. “It was very eye-opening to see what goes on in the medical field behind the scenes.”
