Interested in our Lung Cancer Screening Program?
Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related deaths, and most of the time is not diagnosed until you have symptoms like cough, chest pain, or weight loss. The good news? When detected early, you have the best chance to be cured. And, quitting smoking is the best way to decrease your chance of developing lung cancer.
The National Lung Screening Trial (NLST), a recent study sponsored by the National Cancer Institute, has shown that low-dose CT lung cancer screening in high risk individuals can reduce mortality rates by up to 20% due to early detection.
As always, we encourage you to discuss the risks and benefits of lung cancer screening with your physician.
Who should get a low-dose lung cancer CT scan?
- You’re between 50-80 and a current smoker
- You’re a former smoker that quit within the past 15 years and smoked at least a pack of cigarettes a day for 20+ years.
