Stamford Hospital is proud to be the only hospital in Connecticut with an “A” safety rating from the Leapfrog Group, four-star rating from The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), and Magnet designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), and Planetree designation. Stamford Health is Planetree Gold Certified for Excellence in Person-Centered Care. Person-centered care is the core of a high-quality health care system. Stamford Health is just one of two health care systems in Connecticut to receive this designation.
magnet recognition
Stamford Hospital is among 10% of hospitals nationwide to have been granted Magnet designation by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), and one of just six hospitals in Connecticut.
The Magnet Recognition Program designates organizations worldwide where nursing leaders successfully align their nursing strategic goals to improve the organization’s patient outcomes. As a Magnet-designated hospital, we are required to demonstrate better key patient safety outcomes than national standards.

Stamford Hospital is one of two hospitals in Connecticut that are Stroke Rehabilitation Certified by The Joint Commission; and one of six in Connecticut that are recognized as Thrombectomy Capable by The Joint Commission.

Stamford Hospital has been recognized as “meritorious” by the American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program – and is the only hospital in Connecticut to achieve this recognition.

Stamford Health has been designated a Diagnostic Imaging Center of Excellence® (DICOE) by the American College of Radiology® (ACR®). We are the first imaging center in Fairfield County to receive this important designation which applies to our imaging provided at Stamford Hospital, Tully Health Center, Darien Imaging Center, Greenwich Imaging Center, and Wilton Imaging Center.

Stamford Health Medical Group's primary care and pediatric offices are recognized by the National Committee for Quality Assurance as designated Patient Centered Medical Homes. This designation is awarded to practices for providing superior care to patients with a focus on team-based care, care coordination, and continuous quality improvement.

Our quality team identifies priorities for patient safety and uses metrics and national benchmarks to ensure the care we provide is top notch. The organization tracks hundreds of these metrics and our performance and progress toward goals are shared at all levels, from the front-line staff to the board of directors.
