Stamford, CT, August 5, 2021 – U.S. News & World Report (USNWR), an authority on hospital rankings, released its “Best Hospitals 2021-2022” rankings. Stamford Hospital was recognized as a High Performing Hospital in four areas: chronic lung disease, heart failure, kidney failure, and stroke care. This was the highest number of recognitions Stamford Health has received since the inception of this ratings program. Stamford Health’s High-Performing recognition was driven by favorable outcomes in each of the four specialties, as well as good performance in service volumes, readmission rates, outcomes, pertinent care technologies, and specialized personnel
“I am incredibly proud of our team for earning USNWR recognition,” said Kathleen Silard, President & CEO of Stamford Health. “These achievements reflect Stamford Health’s commitment to caring for patients at the highest level possible and is a continued reminder that our teams are providing expert care with a human touch,” added Silard.
“I am especially grateful for this recognition,” remarked Rohit Bhalla, MD, MPH, Senior Vice President, Clinical Affairs & Quality, and Chief Clinical & Quality Officer of Stamford Health. “It builds upon our recent, unprecedented quality and safety accomplishment of simultaneously achieving a five-star rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), an A safety grade from the Leapfrog Group, Magnet recognition from the American Nurses Credentialing Center, and the highest CMS value-based payment program result in the state. Each and every staff member at Stamford Health played a role in making this happen,” added Bhalla.
“I credit the tremendous dedication of our physicians, and clinical and support staff, who all contribute to the success of these four programs,” added Rod Acosta, MD, Chief Physician Executive, and President and CEO of Stamford Health Medical Group. “Each has been recognized over the years for exceptional patient care with a keen focus on safety and quality,” said Acosta.
Among 42 hospitals evaluated in the Connecticut area, nearly half received USNWR “Best Hospitals 2021-2022” recognition. Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS), in collaboration with Stamford Health, introduced the premier center for advanced orthopedic care in 2017. HSS has been ranked number one in orthopedics for the twelfth consecutive year. In the specialty of cancer, Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women’s Cancer Center, with whom Stamford Health recently expanded its relationship through the Carl & Dorothy Bennett Cancer Center, was recognized as the top cancer hospital in New England.
