Q: How do I know if my health plan includes Stamford Hospital?

Q: How will Stamford Hospital know in which health plan I participate?
A: Please present your current health plan identification card when you register for inpatient or outpatient services at Stamford Hospital.

Q: What does "in-network" and "out-of-network" mean?

Q: How do I know if my health plan requires a referral, precertification or authorization for a service?
A: It is recommended that you contact your health plan or provider directly, if you have any questions or concerns about precertification or preauthorization, by calling the customer service phone number listed on your identification card.

Q: What should I do if my health plan includes Stamford Hospital as a participating provider, but I receive an explanation of benefits stating I am out-of-network?

A: If you have questions about your Stamford Hospital bill, or feel that it is incorrect, call 203.276.7572, Monday-Friday, 9am–5:00pm.
