Stamford Hospital Awarded 4th Consecutive “A” Hospital Safety Grade from Leapfrog Group
STAMFORD, CT, November 15, 2024 – Today, Stamford Hospital announced they received an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group for Fall 2024 – the organization’s fourth consecutive “A” rating since Spring 2023. Out of 28 Connecticut hospitals to receive ratings from Leapfrog this reporting period, Stamford Hospital was one of 14 in the state to receive an “A.” This national distinction celebrates Stamford Hospital’s achievements in prioritizing patient safety by protecting patients from preventable harm.
“Our performance is a direct reflection of our teams’ daily commitment to patient safety and high-quality care,” stated Rohit Bhalla, MD, MPH, Senior Vice President and Chief Clinical and Quality Officer at Stamford Health. “We extend our gratitude to our caregivers and entire staff for their compassion and dedication.”
Leapfrog assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country based on over 20 performance measures reflecting rates of complications, adverse events, and infections, as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent them.
“Every year, quality and patient safety remain our number one priority,” added Kathleen Silard, President and CEO. “Achieving another ‘A’ instills a deeper sense of pride amongst our teams and reinforces our vision of being the most trusted healthcare partner for the communities we serve.”
“Achieving an ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade is a significant accomplishment for Stamford Hospital,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “It reflects enormous dedication to your patients and their families, and your whole community should be proud. I extend my congratulations to Stamford Hospital, its leadership, clinicians, staff and volunteers for their tireless efforts to put patients first.”
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.
