Stamford, CT/June 28, 2019 – Stamford Health President and Chief Executive Officer, Kathleen Silard, was elected to the Connecticut Hospital Association’s (CHA) Board of Trustees for the 2019-2022 term.
“Kathy Silard is a strong advocate for Stamford Health and for enhancing healthcare for everyone in Connecticut,” said Jennifer Jackson, CEO, CHA. “She is a long-time member of CHA who has further strengthened her connection with the Association since becoming President and CEO of Stamford Health, and we are pleased to have her on the CHA Board of Trustees.”
Silard joined Stamford Health in 2003 as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer and was named President and CEO in 2018. She is passionate about making a difference in the communities served by Stamford Health and is committed to leading a team of more than 3,500 employees who provide high-quality, patient-centered care every day. Silard’s service-oriented and caring approach stems from her background as a clinician – she started her career as a nurse in the pediatrics and the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at Albert Einstein Hospital in New York.
Her commitment to patient care has led to successful initiatives that will continue benefiting patients and families in our local communities. She led the organization’s facility master planning and was instrumental in opening the new Stamford Hospital on time and under budget in 2016. Silard also helped develop the Cohen Pediatric Emergency Department – the first dedicated pediatric emergency department in Fairfield County – under the Cohen Children’s Institute, which provides inpatient and outpatient services for kids.
“I am honored to serve on the Board of Trustees for the Connecticut Hospital Association,” said Silard. “We are focused on the care and safety of our patients every day and I’m looking forward to contributing ideas and recommendations that will continue to make healthcare stronger for our entire state.”
Additionally, Stamford Health’s Vice President of Quality and Chief Quality Officer, Rohit Bhalla, MD, will continue another term as a CHA Board member through 2020. Dr. Bhalla has held the position since 2017. He also serves on the committee on Patient Care Quality – the lead CHA board committee that considers and recommends CHA advocacy positions and activities on quality and patient safety, performance reporting, and patient care regulation.
