For the second straight year, Stamford Hospital’s Wound Care and Hyperbaric Center has earned the Center of Distinction award from Healogics, Inc., the nation’s largest provider of advanced wound care services. To earn this distinction, the Wound Care and Hyperbaric Center achieved outstanding clinical outcomes for 12 consecutive months, including patient satisfaction higher than 92 percent, a minimum wound healing rate of at least 91 percent within 30 median days to heal, and other quality outcomes. Out of a possible 506 centers eligible for the Center of Distinction award, 172 achieved the honor.

“On behalf of our, physicians, nurses and staff at the Wound Care and Hyperbaric Center, we are proud to receive the Center of Distinction award as it is representative of our ongoing commitment to providing high-quality clinical care in a compassionate and patient-centered environment,” said Timothy Manoni, MD, Chief of Vascular Surgery and Director of the Wound Care and Hyperbaric Center, Stamford Hospital. “Our staff treat patients’ wounds, but they also enhance their quality of life, so I am very pleased with their consistent dedication and hard work to meet these demanding quality outcomes.”

Stamford Hospital’s Wound Care and Hyperbaric Center offers specialized treatment to patients suffering from diabetic ulcers, pressure ulcers, infections or other wounds caused by injury, disease, a surgical incision, poor blood supply to a body area, poor nutrition or other factors, which have not healed within a reasonable amount of time. Patients receive an evaluation and diagnostic assessment of their wound, and advanced treatments options including hyperbaric oxygen therapy, negative pressure wound therapy, bio-engineered skin grafts/substitutes, biological and biosynthetic dressings and growth factor therapies. The outpatient wound treatment provided by the Center has helped 90 percent of patients heal completely in less than two months, and has saved limbs that might otherwise have required future amputation.

The Stamford Hospital Wound Care and Hyperbaric Center is a member of the Healogics Network of more than 635 Centers, and provides access to benchmarking data and proven experience treating more than two million chronic wounds.
