David H. Hsi, MD, joined Stamford Hospital as the new Chief, Division of Cardiology, and Co-Director of the Hospital’s Heart & Vascular Institute, effective October 1, 2014. As Chair of Cardiology, Dr. Hsi will oversee the safety, quality, growth and delivery of integrated cardiology services throughout the Heart & Vascular Institute, its ambulatory sites and testing centers as the program prepares for expanded services in the New Hospital, which is scheduled to open in the Summer of 2016. He will also coordinate cardiology education and research initiatives as well as the integration of cardiology services across the health system.

“Dr. Hsi’s specialized knowledge in critical care cardiology, medical teaching and clinical research will be a great asset to our growing heart and vascular team,” said Sharon Kiely, MD, MPM, Senior Vice President of Medical Affairs and Chief Medical Officer, Stamford Hospital. “His research and teaching experience will add another layer to our capabilities as we continue to expand the services we offer the region currently and in our future facilities."

Most recently, Dr. Hsi served as Chair of Clinical Cardiology and Director, Valve Clinic, at Deborah Heart and Lung Center in New Jersey. There, his expertise in complex cardiology, research and management resulted in the expansion of the clinical, education and research programs, and successful implementation of their TAVR program. He is a Professor of Clinical Medicine at the Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Jersey.

Dr. Hsi received his medical degree from Shanghai Medical University in China, completed his residency at Tufts School of Medicine and received cardiology fellowship training at Harvard Medical School. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Echocardiography, Nuclear Cardiology, Vascular Medicine and Cardiac CT. He is a Fellow, American College of Cardiology and American Society of Nuclear Cardiology, has participated in multiple NIH- and sponsor-supported research trials, and published in peer review journals such as the New England Journal of Medicine, Heart, Circulation, and Mayo Clinic Proceedings. Dr. Hsi was voted “Mentor of the Year” in 2012 and 2013 by cardiology fellows, and named among “Top Doctors 2014” by Philadelphia Magazine.
