Bennett Cancer Center's Walk & Run Celebrates 20th Anniversary, Raises Funds for Vital Cancer Support Programs

Published: April 21, 2015

As Stamford Hospital’s Bennett Cancer Center gears up to celebrate the 20th anniversary of its annual Walk & Run event, organizers are reminding supporters and community members that 100% of the funds raised through the event, as well as the ongoing, year-round Hope in Motion campaign, go directly to support the vital programs and services provided to patients and their families.

For 23 years, the Bennett Cancer Center has combined the strength of technology and advanced clinical knowledge with personal and individualized care plans to treat nearly 20,000 patients. In addition to the highest level of clinical care, the Center also offers a range of support options, including an integrative medicine program (including massage, Reflexology, Reiki, yoga and Tai Chi); individual, family and group therapy; genetic counseling; exercise programs; nutritional counseling; and survivorship programs to enhance the natural healing capacities of the body and mind. All of these programs and services are made possible at no charge to patients with funds raised from Hope in Motion and the annual Walk & Run event.

Through the generosity of others, the Bennett Cancer Center can bring hope and healing to those impacted by cancer, right in their own backyard, eliminating the need for patients to travel to New York or elsewhere to receive screenings, excellent cancer care and support. Individuals can donate and/or register to Walk or Run or form a team at www.hopeinmotion.org. Bicycling enthusiasts can sign up to Ride with The Bloomin’ Metric on Sunday, May 31, starting at Sherwood Island in Westport, and raise funds as part of Hope in Motion.

Last year, more than 4,500 supporters participated in the annual Walk & Run, the signature Hope in Motion fundraising event. Organizers are looking to raise $1 million for this year’s event, which will be held on Sunday, June 7, in downtown Stamford’s Columbus Park.
