Our personalized approach

At the first visit, you will be seen by an HSS physician assistant who will evaluate your symptoms, provide treatment, and develop a care plan.

Our team will also help you to schedule any necessary follow-up care in a timely manner, so you don’t have to figure out the next steps on your own. As a patient of the HSS Spine Center with Stamford Health, you will receive quick access to one of our highly trained specialists, whose areas of expertise include:

• Physical therapy.
• Physiatry.
• Pain management.
• Neurology.
• Neurointerventional radiology.
• Surgery.

If you’re still receiving care with us after four weeks, a dedicated care navigator will proactively reach out to you. Their role is to guide you through the rest of your journey so you can get back to the things you need and love to do as quickly as possible. They will contact you at specific intervals to evaluate your needs to make sure you’re receiving the right level of care at the right time.

Please note that we are not equipped to provide injection therapy or emergency care during your first visit.

Conditions we treat include:

• Lower back pain.
• Middle back pain.
• Upper back pain.
• Back muscle injury.
• Back sprain.
• Sciatica.
• Neck pain.
• Neck sprain.

Conditions not treated here:

• Difficulty or pain when breathing.
• Unbearable pain (10 out of 10) that may require very strong medication or intensive treatment.
• Weakness in the arms or legs.
• Trouble with vision, headaches, and/or dizziness.
• Any condition caused by a traumatic event, such as a motor vehicle accident.
• Fever that started within 24 hours of your condition (>101.5° F).
• Bowel/bladder retention or incontinence.
• Numbness in the groin.
