Coronavirus: When to Take Action

Stamford Health is committed to preventing the spread of infectious diseases and cares about your health. You may have heard about coronavirus disease in the media. This is a respiratory infection (COVID-19) caused by a new strain of coronavirus. The illness is very similar to the flu.
There have been no cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) at any Stamford Health facilities or in the state of Connecticut. If you are at all concerned about coronavirus, please consider the following guidance:
- If you have a fever or respiratory symptoms and you require medical care, please wear a mask upon entering any health care facility, even if you have not traveled abroad. If you have traveled abroad and if you have a fever or respiratory symptoms or have been in contact with someone who is ill with coronavirus in the past 14 days, please notify the front desk staff upon arrival.
- If you have traveled from China, or been in contact with someone who is ill with coronavirus, in the past 14 days BUT do not have any symptoms and are feeling well, please contact your local health department for further guidance and monitoring: Stamford Department of Health: 203.977.5385 or 203.977.4399; Connecticut Department of Health 860.509.7994 or 860.509.8000. We urge you to remain at home in quarantine for 14 days, or as advised by the Department of Health.
