About Me

Dr Acosta received his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. He completed a residency in Family Medicine at St. Joseph Hospital in Stamford, where he also served as Chief Resident. Dr. Acosta started a solo practice in 1987 and after several successful years became a founding partner of Stamford Family Practice. Dr. Acosta and his partners joined SHMG in 2011, becoming the first primary care group to join. Dr. Acosta has served as Medical Director of several local skilled nursing facilities, Chair of the Department of Family Medicine, Chair of the Credentials Committee, Chair of the Peer Review Oversight Committee, and Chair of the Medical Staff at Stamford Hospital. Dr. Acosta has received multiple awards and recognitions throughout his career including: Compassionate Care Award from St. Camillus, Planetree Physician of the Year at Stamford Hospital, and has been named one of the Best Doctors in the New York Metropolitan area 16 years in a row. Dr. Acosta presently serves as the President and CEO of the SHMG and is part of the Executive Leadership Team at Stamford Hospital.
