The Stamford Health Department of Surgery is the premier operating service in Fairfield and Westchester counties, distinguished by expert surgeons, outstanding teamwork, genuine patient-centered care and excellent quality performance outcomes. Our ability to deliver such a high level of surgical care begins with a skilled and cohesive team of surgeons and anesthesiologists, with a broad range of surgical specialties, who are supported by experienced operating room, critical care and unit nurses, physician assistants and support staff. We are fortunate to serve our patients in the new Stamford Hospital, designed to accommodate continuously advancing and high-tech procedures and provide a more calming and welcoming environment for patients and their families.

Expert and multidisciplinary care provided by a team of board-certified surgeons and anesthesiologists, Magnet® nurses, perioperative staff, surgical residents, physician assistants, technologists, therapists and health professionals who collaborate to develop a plan of care tailored to your individualized needs.

Renovated, state-of-the-art facilities that merge advanced medical technology with a safer, more pleasant patient environment, including eight new surgical suites that accommodate the latest complex surgery and robotic procedures, a hybrid operating room dedicated to advanced vascular and radiological procedures, and 2 specialized integrated neurosurgical and spine rooms equipped for complex cases and robotic procedures.

Superb quality care and patient safety consistently achieved through an interdisciplinary team approach to evidence-based practices and continuous performance monitoring. In 2017, Stamford Health’s surgical site infection rate was 0.73%, which is significantly less than the average of 4.9% for New York State hospitals. Also, in 2017, patient satisfaction was 81%, which is well above the average of 72% for hospitals across the U.S.

An innovative Pre-surgical Optimization Program (POP) that sets consistent standards for the preoperative evaluation and preparation of patients undergoing inpatient surgery and proactively plans for a smooth discharge process.

Our affiliation with Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons, for which we proudly serve as a teaching hospital for Columbia’s surgical residents.
