Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes
Stamford Hospital and the Diabetes and Endocrine Center proudly partners with the American Diabetes Association as the title sponsor of Fairfield County Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes. Stamford Hospital is also a Platinum sponsor for both of the JDRF's Fairfield County Walk to Cure Diabetes events. These yearly events helps raise awareness, promote healthy living, and raise money to fund educational outreach, advocacy efforts, and critical research to ultimately stop and cure diabetes.
As part of our patients’ standard medical visits, we are able to offer flu vaccines, pneumonia vaccines, and smoking cessation counseling.
For individuals who have been told they have pre-diabetes, or who simply want to improve their lifestyle, Stamford Hospital offers individual diabetes prevention education and counseling sessions with registered dietitians at the Diabetes and Endocrine Center and the Tully Health Center. At the first one-hour meeting, one of our expert registered dietitians will review the individual’s diet history and help devise an individualized meal and exercise plan tailored to his or her needs and preferences. Follow-up appointments may include a weigh-in.
