Pediatric Center of Stamford Joins Stamford Health Medical Group
Stamford, CT/January 20, 2020 – The Pediatric Center of Stamford is the first pediatric practice to join Stamford Health Medical Group (SHMG). SHMG is a multi-specialty group of over 150 physicians that provides healthcare services to residents of Fairfield County and nearby Westchester County. SHMG is part of the comprehensive network of medical, surgical and emergency care services and technology at Stamford Health, which also includes Stamford Hospital.
Since 1980, the Pediatric Center of Stamford, located on Morgan Street, has been serving children from birth through adolescence in the community. Their compassionate, family-centered approach has earned them not only an excellent reputation, but also a Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) designation. A Patient-Centered Medical Home is a healthcare delivery model where patients’ care and treatment are coordinated and managed through their primary care physician and care team.
“We’re thrilled to welcome the passion and expertise of the pediatric staff to Stamford Health Medical Group,” said Rod Acosta, MD, Chief Physician Executive, President and CEO of Stamford Health Medical Group. “We are proud of the pediatric services offered by Stamford Health’s Steven and Alexandra Cohen Children’s Institute, and this new partnership is a great addition to Stamford Health Medical Group’s offerings.”
“Working with the Pediatric Center will help Stamford Health Medical Group further educate patients and families on the benefits of continuity of care through all our specialty touch-points,” stated Irene Furlong, Director, Clinical Services, Stamford Health Medical Group.”
“At the heart of this relationship is patient-centered care focused on children and young adults,” said Sanford L. Swidler, MD, who has been with the Pediatric Center since June of 1982. “We’re excited to have behind us the robust support of a caring, multidisciplinary organization.”
This new association will provide patients of the Pediatric Center with expanded resources including laboratory and radiology locations throughout lower Fairfield County as well as the Pediatric Emergency Department at Stamford Hospital.
The Pediatric Center, pediatricians, and staff look forward to continuing to serve families and the community. The office location and phone numbers will remain the same and will continue to accept most major insurance plans. The Pediatric Center is currently accepting new patients.
The team of medical professionals joining SHMG includes Sanford L. Swidler, MD, Paule Couture, MD, Timothy Kenefick, MD, Lisa Rooney, MD, Monique Gagnon, MD, Susan Lasky, DO, Joan Gildea, APRN and Courtney Parker, APRN.
