Eleven Specialists Join Stamford Health Network
STAMFORD, CT/September 12, 2019 – William Hines, MD, Chief Medical Officer, Stamford Health Medical Group, announced the addition of eleven specialists, joining between July and September 2019, to Stamford Health’s network of physicians employed by the health system.
“Stamford Health Medical Group is pleased to welcome eleven new physicians on board, who are partnering with Stamford Health to care for patients in Stamford and surrounding communities,” said Dr. Hines.

Anna Koulova, MD, specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of the heart and cardiovascular system. Dr. Koulova practices at 29 Hospital Plaza, Suite 502 in Stamford. After studying biology at Duke University, she earned her medical degree from New York Medical College. Dr. Koulova completed an internal medicine residency at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai St. Luke’s West Program. She was a cardiovascular disease fellow at Westchester Medical Center. Dr. Koulova is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, the National Board of Echocardiography, and the American Board of Radiology, Nuclear Cardiology. Nikhil Sikand, MD, specializes in cardiovascular disease and offers innovative care to heart patients of all ages. After earning his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine, Dr. Sikand completed an internal medicine internship and residency at Yale University School of Medicine. Dr. Sikand completed a fellowship in cardiovascular disease at New York University School of Medicine, where he was Chief Clinic Fellow. He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and in Adult Comprehensive Echocardiography by the National Board of Echocardiography. Ashley Rountree, MD, specializes in family medicine and treats a wide array of illnesses and injuries. Her special interests include preventive medicine, adolescent medicine and mental health. Dr. Rountree earned a Bachelor of Health Science degree at the University of Florida. She received her medical degree at Ross University School of Medicine and completed her family medicine residency at Stamford Hospital/Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons. Lyuba Polinkovsky, MD, is a board-certified, family medicine physician with special interests in preventive and behavioral medicine. Dr. Polinkovsky approaches medicine holistically by addressing the physical, psychological and social aspects of health and wellness. After graduating from Syracuse University with a Bachelor of Science in biology, she earned a Doctor of Medicine at Ross University School of Medicine. Alison McElhone, MD, specializes in geriatric medicine and practices at the Geriatric Assessment Center, 435 Danbury Road in Wilton. Dr. McElhone understands the impact of social factors, mood and cognitive disorders, chronic pain and functional impairment on quality of life. Her individualized approach that addresses these issues, together with treatment of the patient’s chronic medical conditions, results in improved outcomes and quality of life. Andrea Shahum, MD, PhD, specializes in both internal medicine and infectious diseases, and is located at Stamford Health’s Tully Health Center, 32 Strawberry Hill Court, 4th Floor, Suite 6 in Stamford. She earned her medical degree at Comenius University in Bratislava and post-doctoral degree at University of Trnava, Faculty of Health Sciences and Social Work, both in Slovakia. Before relocating to the United States, she became a faculty member and acting vice dean while coordinating humanitarian projects in resource-poor settings supported by Trnava University. At that time, she was instrumental in creating integrated medical training programs and experiential learning opportunities in Sub-Saharan Africa and Cambodia. After Trnava University, Dr. Shahum completed her internal medicine residency at Norwalk Hospital, where she served as chief resident. She later completed a fellowship in infectious diseases at the University of North Carolina, where she worked as a clinical assistant professor and continued to work on her research in HIV and sexually transmitted diseases both nationally and internationally. Anastasia Slobodnick, MD, will see rheumatology and internal medicine patients at 75 Holly Hill Lane, 2nd Floor in Greenwich and 292 Long Ridge Rd., Suite 103, Stamford. She sees patients who have medical conditions that affect their joints, tendons, ligaments, bones and muscles. Dr. Slobodnick completed her medical education, residency in internal medicine and fellowship in rheumatology at New York University School of Medicine. Mark Landreneau, MD, is a neurologist practicing at 29 Hospital Plaza, 6th floor, Suite 602 in Stamford.
