Stamford Health Elects New Medical Staff Leadership
Rudolph Taddonio, MD, Interim Chair, Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Stamford Health, was elected president of the Stamford Health Medical Staff. Carol Fucigna, MD, Vice Chair, Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology, was elected vice president. During their two-year terms, Drs. Taddonio and Fucigna will work closely with Stamford Health executives and Board of Directors to support continuous quality improvement, enhance patient care and represent the views and needs of the medical staff.
Dr. Taddonio joined Stamford Hospital in 1995 and was appointed as Division Chief of Orthopedics in 2007. In October 2016, he was appointed Interim Chair of a newly created Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Stamford Health. A long-time resident of New Canaan and recently Stamford, Dr. Taddonio is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and the Scoliosis Research Society. Dr. Taddonio provides scoliosis and spine surgery care for patients through practice locations in Stamford and White Plains. Dr. Taddonio obtained his medical degree from New York Medical College. He completed his residency at New York Medical College and a Fellowship in Scoliosis and Spine Surgery at Rush University Medical Center and the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children in Chicago. He currently holds the academic positions of Clinical Professor of Orthopedic and Neurosurgery at New York Medical College.
Dr. Fucigna is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology and has been practicing for more than 20 years. She joined Stamford Hospital in 2004 and opened an office in Wilton, adding a Darien office a short time later. Dr. Fucigna is Vice Chair, Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology and served as Interim Chair from June 2014 until December 2016. She received her medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and completed her residency at St. Luke’s/Roosevelt Hospital Center.
