David Gruen, MD, Named to American College of Radiology Quality Committee

David R. Gruen, MD, Director of Women’s Imaging & Co-Director of the Breast Center at Stamford Health was named to the Quality Experience Committee of the American College of Radiology.

“Radiology is increasingly becoming a core component of high-quality care and patient satisfaction, particularly as patients engage with online health information and their personal electronic medical record,” said Brian Stainken, MD, Chair, Department of Radiology at Stamford Health “This appointment by the ACR recognizes David’s vision and leadership beyond our community, and his work and dedication in this area will help keep Stamford’s radiology program on the leading-edge of quality and patient-centered care.”

The Quality Experience Committee is one of four formed under the American College of Radiology Commission on Patient- and Family-Centered Care, and was designed to encourage two-way communication between radiologists and patients. As a member of this committee, Dr. Gruen will work with colleagues at leading healthcare institutions around the country to assist the organization in identifying quality, safety and patient experience priorities to improve care and health outcomes in radiology.

“We want to ensure that all stakeholders’ points of view, perspective and experience are further integrated into the radiologist-patient relationship, transforming current culture and leading to improved patient care and satisfaction,” said James V. Rawson, MD, FACR, chair of the ACR Commission on Patient- and Family-Centered Care. “Quality Experience Committee members will also explore how to incorporate the needs, wants and value of our patients and communities in the development of standards and guidelines,” he noted. The Commission’s committees will be unique and include former and current patients, members representing diverse subspecialties and allied colleagues, said Rawson. The American College of Radiology (ACR), founded in 1924, is a professional medical society dedicated to serving patients and society by empowering radiology professionals to advance the practice, science and professions of radiological care.
