Stamford Hospital Trustee Michael Fedele Honored By United Hospital Fund
Michael Fedele, Chairman of the Board of Directors for Stamford Hospital, was among 28 hospital trustees honored by the United Hospital Fund during their 24th Annual Tribute to Hospital Trustees at The Waldorf-Astoria in New York City. This tribute recognizes the dedication and leadership of the volunteer leaders who govern not-for-profit hospitals throughout the New York metropolitan area.
“Mike is not only a proven business leader but is also a dedicated champion of world-class care for the community in which he lives and works,” said Brian Grissler, President and CEO, Stamford Hospital. “His unique and passionate vision is instrumental in helping guide our hospital through this period of enormous change in healthcare while we are also in the midst of building a new hospital that will represents a unique approach to healthcare and wellness for the communities we serve.”
The award recipients are prominent leaders in business, medicine, education and law, as well as those involved in human services and volunteerism.
Mr. Fedele is the founder, president and CEO of Stamford, Connecticut-based Pinnacle Group, a leading national information technology firm. He first served on Stamford Hospital’s Board of Directors from 2005-2006, joined again in 2012 and was elected Chairman in 2013.
Mr. Fedele began his public service in 1983, when he was elected to the first of two terms on Stamford’s Board of Representatives. As State Representative, he held a number of leadership posts, including Ranking Member of the Legislature’s Insurance and Real Estate Committee and Assistant House Minority Leader. He also served on the Legislature’s Banks, Transportation and Workforce Development Committees. On January 3, 2007, Mr. Fedele was sworn-in as the 107th Lieutenant Governor of the state of Connecticut. In 2009, Mr. Fedele received the Prescott Bush Award, the highest honor that the Connecticut Republican Party awards to a member of the Party. He was also honored that year with the Boy's Town of Italy 2009 Humanitarian of the Year Award. A native of Minturno, Italy, Mr. Fedele has lived in Stamford for more than 55 years and has three grown children with his wife, Carol.
