Rod Acosta, MD, Named CEO of Stamford Health Integrated Practices

Rod Acosta, MD, has been named CEO of Stamford Hospital’s affiliate physician network, Stamford Health Integrated Practices (SHIP). As SHIP CEO, Dr. Acosta will serve as SHIP’s champion within Stamford Health System, directing quality, strategy and growth initiatives as they relate to the employed physician enterprise and enhancing collaboration between the System and medical staff.

SHIP was created as a partnership of local primary care physicians, healthcare specialists and Stamford Hospital to align and deliver collaborative care in Fairfield and Westchester County communities in an evolving healthcare landscape. SHIP practices include Primary Care; General, Trauma, Breast and Colorectal Surgery; Obstetrics and Gynecology; Orthopedics; Gastroenterology and Endocrinology; Pediatric and Adult Neurology; Urogynecology and Pelvic Surgery; and Infectious Diseases.

Prior to this new position, Dr. Acosta was Medical Staff Chair at Stamford Hospital. Dr. Acosta joined Stamford Hospital in 1987 as attending physician in the Department of Family Medicine. In 1995, he was a Founding Member and Partner of Stamford Family Practice, P.C., which was the first primary care group to join SHIP in 2010. By joining SHIP, this helped develop the strong primary care base in a physician network that is now over 100 physicians and growing. A graduate of the University of Dallas, Dr. Acosta received his Medical Degree from the University of Texas. He completed an internship and residency and served as Chief Resident in Family Practice at St. Joseph Medical Center in Stamford, Conn.
